Audrey Niffenegger’s latest book is a ghost story set in and around Highgate Cemetery. I’ve actually never promoted a book on this website before that was not directly related to Elizabeth Siddal or the Pre-Raphaelites, but I enjoyed Niffenegger’s book The Time Traveler’s Wife and when I read the information about her latest book I was thrilled with the happy coincidence that the setting is also the burial place of Lizzie Siddal. I should say that I enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife so much that I have avoided seeing the movie because I don’t want to be disappointed. So, if you’ve read the book and still enjoyed the movie, please let me know!
There is a page of photos from Highgate Cemetery at Audrey Niffenegger’s website. Also, visit http://www.highgate-cemetery.org/ and of course, our own page of pictures that kind LizzieSiddal.com visitors have shared with us.

I just thought you might be interested to know that Lizzie does get a few mentions in ‘Her Fearful Symmetry’ – not much, but she’s in there just the same.
And this site is amazing – Lizzie has fascinated me since I was a little girl and saw ‘Ophelia’ for the first time; I stumbled across your website while trying to do some research on Lizzie for one of my two NaNoWriMo novels and I think it’s fantastic that someone has taken the time to think about the woman behind the myths and make her seem real. She wasn’t just the sanctified Beatrice or the doomed Ophelia or proud and haughty, as William Rossetti and others have said; she was all of these things at times and yet she was so much more as well: she was a human being, with flaws and quirks and real thoughts and emotions, and this site shows her for what she was and brings her talents as a poet and artist back into the public eye. Thank you…
